Sanctuary Plastic Surgery surgeons prefer Mentor saline and silicone implants although other implants may be used in a case by case fashion. Our preference is to use silicone MemoryGel™ implants as they feel and act like natural breast implant tissue without compromising reliability or safety. They have been successfully used and trusted for 20 years by by millions of women.
What is MemoryGel™?
MemoryGel™ is simply a brand name for Mentor’s silicone gel breast implants. The difference between MemoryGel™ implants and other silicone implants is the cohesive gel formulation that feels like a natural liquid but acts like a solid rather than a liquid. This gel holds together uniformly so that it does not leak.
Which Implant is Right for Me?
Depending on the look you would like to achieve, you and your surgeon will choose from implants of three different sizes and styles. Your height, weight, shape and chest area are all taken into consideration by your surgeon when selecting a breast implant. While the surgeon will make a recommendation, it is up to you to decide what breast implant is for you. There are four characteristics to consider when choosing a breast implant:
- Shape
- Size
- Profile
- Surface
Size & Shape
The larger you wish your cup size to be, the larger the breast implant you will chose. Breast implant size is measured in cubic centimeters or cc’s, not cup sizes. Your surgeon will also evaluate your existing breast and skin tissue to determine if you have enough to cover the breast implant you desire. If you desire a breast implant that is too large, your surgeon will warn you that the sides of the implant may be seen after surgery. Excessively large breasts can also speed up the effects of gravity on the breast, and can result in drooping or sagging at an early age.
Surface texture
Breast implants are available in either smooth or textured surfaces. The most popular choice at SPS is smooth-surfaced breast implants. Smooth-surfaced implants are less likely to be felt through the skin.
Profile
In addition to size and shape, breast implants are also available in "profiles", which refers to the amount of forward projection off the chest wall. There are two types implants; round and contoured (also called anatomics). Round implants (available in silicone and saline) are the most popular choice and are available in moderate, moderate plus and high profile. different profiles)
Round Memory Gel Breast Implant Moderate Profile
This implant has a wider base width and sits more flat on the chest cavity.

Round Memory Gel Breast Implant Moderate Plus Profile
This implant has a higher projection, with a moderate base width.

Round Memory Gel Breast Implant High Profile
A high profile breast implant provides the greatest forward projection and is better suited for a woman with a narrower chest area. We tend to use these implants in women after childbirth or slight droopiness as they seem to rotate the breast to a higher position better than the other profiles.
